Overview

The Lennox ML296 Merit Series is Lennox’s two-stage gas furnace — designed for homeowners who want the next level of comfort beyond single-stage heating. The two-stage gas valve runs at low fire (~70% capacity) most of the time, delivering more even temperatures and lower noise.

96% AFUE — only 4 cents of every heating dollar is wasted
Two-stage gas valve — low fire for most conditions, full fire when needed
Variable-speed ECM blower — precise airflow, ultra-quiet operation
White glove install — old furnace removed and disposed, site left clean

Key Features

No More Temperature Swings
The two-stage gas valve runs on low 80% of the time, keeping your home at a steady, even temperature without the constant cycling of single-stage units.
Save Even More Than Single-Stage
At 96% AFUE with two-stage operation, fuel consumption drops significantly — the low-fire stage uses less gas on milder days, which is most of the heating season.
Noticeably Quieter Than Standard Furnaces
Variable-speed ECM blower plus low-fire operation means this furnace runs quietly most of the time — you’ll hear it less than your refrigerator.
Cleaner Air Between Heating Cycles
Variable-speed blower can run continuously at low speed, constantly filtering and circulating air — reducing dust, allergens, and stale air.
Enbridge Rebate Eligible
Qualifies for Enbridge Home Efficiency Rebates. H&C handles the paperwork from start to finish.
20-Year Heat Exchanger Warranty
Lennox backs this furnace with a 20-year heat exchanger warranty and 10 years on parts — serious long-term protection.

Ideal For

Homeowners who want noticeably quieter, more consistent heating than a single-stage furnace. The two-stage operation and variable-speed blower eliminate hot-and-cold cycling — ideal for open-concept homes and multi-level houses.

Not Sure Which BTU Size
Is Right for Your Home?

Choosing the right furnace size is critical — too small and it won't keep up on the coldest days, too large and it short-cycles, wasting energy. Our licensed technicians perform a free heat-loss calculation to recommend the perfect size.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between the ML296 and the ML196?
The ML296 adds a two-stage gas valve and variable-speed blower motor. This means it runs at lower capacity most of the time — producing more even temperatures, less noise, and slightly lower operating costs. The ML196 is single-stage with a multi-speed motor — simpler and less expensive, but with more noticeable on/off cycling.
What BTU size do I need for my home?
As a rough guide: 60,000 BTU for homes under 1,500 sq ft, 80,000–90,000 BTU for most GTA homes (1,500–2,500 sq ft), and 110,000 BTU for larger homes. Our technicians perform a proper heat-loss calculation to recommend the exact size — included free with every quote.
Is a two-stage furnace worth the upgrade?
For most homeowners, yes. The two-stage valve runs at low fire (~70% capacity) most of the time, which means longer, gentler heating cycles. You get more even temperatures room-to-room, noticeably less noise, and slightly lower gas bills.
How much quieter is the ML296 compared to a standard furnace?
Significantly quieter. The variable-speed blower ramps up gradually instead of blasting on at full speed, and low-stage operation is inherently quieter than full-fire. Most homeowners say they barely notice it running.
What warranty comes with the ML296?
Lennox provides a 20-year limited warranty on the heat exchanger and 10-year limited parts warranty when registered within 60 days. H&C handles all warranty registration as part of your install.
What happens to my old furnace?
H&C provides full white glove service — we disconnect your old furnace, cap and remove old venting if needed, install the new ML296 with proper PVC venting, and haul away all old equipment.
