Overview

The Rinnai i-Series combi combines a high-efficiency condensing boiler with an on-demand water heater in one wall-mounted unit. It heats your home through radiant floors or baseboard while providing unlimited hot water on demand — no storage tank required. One appliance replaces two.

Up to 96.5% AFUE — condensing technology extracts maximum heat from every cubic foot of gas
Modulating burner — adjusts continuously from 18,000 to 120,000 BTU/h for precise comfort
Endless hot water on demand — up to 4.4 GPM, no tank to run out
Replaces both your boiler and water heater — saves space and simplifies your mechanical room

Key Features

Condensing Efficiency
The stainless steel heat exchanger captures heat that conventional boilers waste — achieving up to 96.5% AFUE. Lower gas bills and reduced carbon footprint.
Modulating Comfort
Unlike on/off boilers that create temperature swings, the i-Series modulates from 15% to 100% output. Your home stays at a rock-steady temperature with no hot-cold cycling.
Multi-Zone Hydronic
Pair with zone valves or a multi-zone manifold to independently heat different areas of your home. Radiant floors upstairs, baseboard in the basement — one boiler handles it all.
Endless Hot Water
The combi provides on-demand domestic hot water at up to 4.4 GPM — enough for a shower and a dishwasher simultaneously. No tank means no standby heat loss and no running out mid-shower.
Built for Canadian Winters
Hydronic heating is the gold standard for comfort in cold climates. Radiant warmth from the floor up, no forced air blowing dust, no cold spots. The i-Series is engineered to deliver this comfort efficiently.
10-Year Heat Exchanger Warranty
Rinnai backs the i-Series with a 10-year heat exchanger warranty and 5 years on parts when professionally installed. H&C handles all warranty registration for you.

Perfect If You're Looking To…

Consolidate your boiler and water heater into one compact unit. Free up mechanical room space. Get endless hot water plus hydronic heating from a single appliance. Simplify maintenance with one unit instead of two.

Not Sure Which Size
Is Right for Your Home?

Sizing a boiler correctly is critical — too small and your home won't reach temperature on the coldest days, too large and you waste gas. Our licensed technicians perform a free heat-loss calculation and recommend the right i-Series model for your home and distribution system.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a boiler and a furnace?
A furnace heats air and blows it through ducts. A boiler heats water and circulates it through radiators, baseboard, or radiant floor tubing. Hydronic (water-based) heating is generally more comfortable — radiant warmth from the floor up, no blowing air, no dust circulation, and very even temperatures throughout the home.
How much more efficient is a condensing boiler?
A condensing boiler like the i-Series achieves up to 96.5% AFUE — meaning 96.5 cents of every dollar of gas becomes heat. Older conventional boilers typically run 80–85% AFUE. That's 12–15% less gas for the same comfort, which adds up significantly over a Canadian winter.
What's the difference between heat-only and combi?
The heat-only version provides space heating only and pairs with a separate water heater. The combi does both heating and hot water — saving space and eliminating a second appliance. The combi is ideal for small to mid-size homes (up to ~3 bathrooms). For larger homes with high simultaneous hot water demand, the heat-only + dedicated tankless is the better setup.
Can I use this with radiant floor heating?
Absolutely — the i-Series is ideal for radiant floor systems. Its modulating burner provides the low, steady water temperatures that radiant floors need. Combined with a mixing valve or zone manifold, it delivers luxurious radiant warmth throughout your home.
What maintenance does a boiler need?
Annual servicing is recommended — our technicians check water pressure, inspect the heat exchanger, verify ignition and safety controls, and flush the system if needed. Regular maintenance keeps the i-Series running at peak efficiency and extends its lifespan well beyond 15 years.
How long does installation take?
A straightforward boiler replacement (removing old unit, mounting new, connecting piping and venting) is typically completed in one day. New installations with radiant floor piping or multi-zone manifolds take 2–3 days. H&C handles everything: gas, water, electrical, and venting.
